6/8/04 The long overdue update is here. It’s been a while since we last posted and there’s good reason – we've been busy getting settled in our new home. Here’s a summary of what’s gone on since our last update:... more
4/14/04 What happened to the farm? Some of you have asked about the farm that we acquired a few years ago. Here's the rest of the story....
Back in 2002, we visited the Big Island for the first time. During this trip, we visited many parts of the island. We also decided that we would make the BIG Island our future home. The biodiversity, variety of climates, and, most importantly, the sense of community all appealed to us.

4/2/04 Boxes everywhere! Should we pack this now? What about that vase? It's so hectic getting the house packed and working at the same time but it sure is fun. The movers are scheduled to do the prep work on 4/17 and will pack the shipping container on 4/19. In addition, we have an appointment for the delivery of the trucks to the Oakland pier on the 20th.
On the reunion front, Deb, Rich, and Jane have scheduled their flights.
3/26/04 Stef's last day at LifeScan was today! She was showered with best wishes and a grand lunch by the LifeScan gang.
The move preparations are moving along at a quick pace. There are boxes everywhere! It looks like we will be shipping a 24 foot container to the island. It will be quite a chore to load and unload but we're ready.
3/12/04 We closed on our Boulder Creek home sale today! It's really strange to be renters in a home that we 'babied' for the past 6 years.
We are now busy packing our stuff. While we've already packed many boxes away, there are several more goods to pack away. With the move now about 5 weeks away, we've got just a few more weekends to finalize the move. It will definitely get more hectic given that our weekends are also being dedicated to "get togethers" with friends and family.
Hawaii - here we come!
2/24/04 It's getting close....
Our Boulder Creek home is on the market and we have a couple of cool buyers. They've been looking for a home in this area for the past 6 years and have made an offer on ours! We're in escrow at the moment.
We're done with the inspections and are just finishing up a few more fixes - roof, hand rails... I must say that the house has never been in such good a shape! We're going to miss this place but are happy that it will be in good hands.
At work, we've started work on transitions...
2/4/04 We closed on the Hilo house! We cannot wait to get back to Hawaii to visit the new home. The previous owners will be staying in the home until March. Pictures....
Back in California, we're hard at work getting the Boulder Creek home ready for sale. It officially goes on the market on 2/9 and we're hopeful that we'll find a nice buyer for it.
12/25/03 During our 2003 Christmas Eve get-together at Richard's home in San Francisco, we finalized the 2004 Reunion dates! The event will be from July 15 to 23. For more information visit the Reunion 2004 page.
The get-together was fun (and filling). We had crabs, prawn curry, lumpia, wine, and rice (of course). Phara's family came earlier in the evening so we got a chance to meet her dad, step-mom, and grandmother. Phara's sister, Melissa was also there.
The cast: Rich, Phara, Steph, Noel, Roland, Michael (with his new 'do), John, Deb, Mia, and Ron. Niki, Tim, and Ariana spent time with their Mom, who was visiting from MA. Skye was with Bobby and his family.
We were able to call Ma, Pa, and Sherlyn. They were having the traditional Philippine Xmas day and were in fine spirits. We also got in touch with Grace, Jane, and Lark.
Yes, we took some pictures. Have a great holiday!
12/15/03 Over 2 years ago we decided that Hawaii was where we wanted to be. The warm environment, great people, natural wonders, and the lifestyle are perfect for us.
In December of 2003, during a trip to the Big Island, we came across a home that we placed an offer on. If all goes well, this will be the site of our 2004 Family Reunion.
We're still in escrow but we'll let you know how it turns out in the next few weeks.
